Counselling can help with many issues, such as:
- Depression and anxiety
- Addictions, obsessions, and compulsive behaviour
- Relationship problems
- Divorce and break ups
- Major life transitions and aging
- Midlife crises
- Self esteem
- Trauma and PTSD
- Loss and grief
Our lives have ebbs and flows. Having problems, at one time or another, is normal. Even so, coming to counselling requires courage. Our culture encourages us to appear as if we always have everything together, and this subtly gives us the message that having problems is a shameful thing. Unfortunately this can be very isolating, for it makes it difficult to ask for help and support when we need it the most.
No matter what you are going through, I offer a caring, non-judgmental, and vital space in which to work through difficult and painful issues. I became a counsellor because I really enjoy helping people to heal, and find new ways to move forward in their lives. No matter what problems you have, doing one’s “psychological work” usually leads to significant personal change and growth.
I offer counselling to help people get through an immediate crisis, as well as psychotherapy for issues that are more persistent and ongoing. I also specialize in Jungian counselling for those who are motivated towards deep and lasting change. In all cases, the focus and depth of your therapy depends on your own goals for healing, change, and growth.
I have an office on Vancouver Island in Victoria, and I also provide counselling online over Skype. On this website you will find specific information about my practice and how I work, and other counselling resources such as a description of common problems.
